A Spotlight on Courchevel and Val d’Isere for Winter 22/23 20 Oct 2022

A Spotlight on Courchevel and Val d’Isere for Winter 22/23

They’re two of the most popular mountain resorts in France and if you’re lucky enough to be joining us in Courchevel or Val d’Isere this winter, you’ll discover a long list of new activities and events to enhance your holiday. As always, your dedicated Alpine Resorts concierge team is on hand in your residence to make recommendations and help you plan your perfect day in the mountains.

1 - Courchevel, the home of world-class skiing

Between 6th and 19th February 2023, Courchevel hosts the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, bringing together the very best skiers from across the globe. This is a prestigious event, broadcast around the world and will surely remind mountain-lovers of Courchevel’s superb atmosphere. The brand new L’Éclipse piste has been created for the event, creating a legacy in the resort that we can all enjoy. You’ll discover four individual and unique fan zones within the resort during the World Ski Championships so you can enjoy the spectacle on live screens and refreshments while you cheer on your favourite skiers.

2 - L’Éclipse - can you handle it?

Let’s look further at the brand new L’Éclipse piste, created specifically for the men’s competitions during the World Ski Championships. This is the flagship slope of the event and so, as you might expect, it’s challenging, with alternating shadows and lights, impressive jumps and a steepening gradient. The new piste starts close to the Col de la Loze at 2,234m in altitude. Distract yourself with the panoramic views before descending 3,300 metres. The first section is exposed and open to the elements before reaching a dense forest with long bends. You’ll descend into Courchevel Le Praz and we hope there’s a crowd of spectators to welcome you!

3 - The Courchevel Food Festival

No fewer than nine Michelin-starred chefs call Courchevel home and the resort is at the forefront of alpine gastronomy. To pair this unique characteristic with the slopes, the Courchevel Food Festival arrives in March 2023, when you’ll find famous chefs at the foot of the slopes each day. Enjoy mouth-watering dishes together with your friends and family and discover a true taste of your favourite mountain village.

4 - The International Fireworks Festival

Celebrating 20 years of pyrotechnic art, Courchevel is perfectly placed for this incredible spectacle. Between Thursday 9th February and Thursday 2nd March six pyrotechnic teams from Finland, France, the UK and Belgium will launch carefully choreographed displays in the skies above the resort, creating lasting memories from your extra special holiday. Each evening begins at 7pm, just as the skies grow dark and as an added bonus, you can even go behind the scenes with an expert guide and professional pyrotechnist to discover the history of fireworks.

5 - Say Hello to Ice Floating

A typical relaxation experience in Finland, floating on an ice-cold lake while eating a waterproof suit is sure to be a memorable occasion. New for this winter season, ice floating arrives on Lac de L’Ouillette in Val d’Isere, providing a sensory experience to evoke feelings of wellness and tranquility. Lie back and gaze at the winter tundra above you while taking a break from the pistes.

6 - The International Adventure & Discovery Film Festival

Featuring screenings, fridge events and activities, this international film festival has made Val d’Isere its home. Pioneers from the work of mountain adventure and cinematography gather for this unique event which showcases some epic escapades in mountains we all know and love. This festival takes place between 17th and 20th April and you can buy your tickets in advance online.
